  • THE BEAUTY OF BAROQUE

    August 30th

    THE BEAUTY OF BAROQUE

flute music of the Bach family

    Eric Maul   flute

    Frederick Jodry   clavier

It is a happy circumstance that the technological developments of the 18th century wooden flute were seized upon by Johann Sebastian Bach in the 1720s and ‘30s, when he was drawn to this new and improved instrument to create some of his most exciting chamber music. His son Carl Philipp Emanuel spent more than two decades at the court of Frederick the Great, the flute-playing monarch for whom he wrote eloquent and quirky pieces. The youngest J. S. Bach son Johann Christoph Friedrich settled in London, where he embraced the new “galant” style of music, characterized by simplicity and light elegance. Come spend a delightful hour with the Bach family!

  • ALEX BREWER’S “UNQUOTED”

    September 6th

    ALEX BREWER’S “UNQUOTED”

a concert of a new album of original music & lyrics

    Alex Brewer   vocals & guitar

featuring a coterie of Cape Cod musicians

With his new recording Unquoted, songwriter Alex Brewer has assembled a rich ensemble of Cape Cod musicians to bring his exuberant, highly original compositions to life. “I knew my songs could go places that I could never take them,” says Brewer, and the talented musicians who contributed to his labor of love prove him right. His outrageous and painfully honest lyrics provide a raw snapshot of an artist in his place and time. The recording is also a tapestry of a vibrant and prolific music scene that thrives in and near his Wellfleet environs. This special online concert includes a selection of Unquoted musicians celebrating a live interpretation of the album, adapted for the setting and circumstances, in addition to several songs from Brewer’s forthcoming solo album Denim Dharma.

  • PASSIONS & PRAYERS!

    September 13th

    PASSIONS & PRAYERS!

great music celebrating social transformation & a better world

    Paul Bisaccia   piano

    John Thomas   piano

People of all nations and communities embrace music to express their hopes, dreams and ultimate victories even in times of oppression from governments near and far. Anthems sung at protests and marches, music played from windows in defiance of military invasions, songs of faith at mass gatherings all remind us that music feeds our spirits and strengthens our resolve to create a better world. The Polonaises of Frédéric Chopin and Franz Liszt are heroic and majestic compositions of Polish and Hungarian pride. Bulgarian composers create music reminiscent of pealing church bells to celebrate faith and community. Film composers bring political and social revolutions to life on the cinema screen. Gospel music celebrates landmarks of freedom and emancipation. Bisaccia and Thomas complete our season of online concerts with inspiring music of heroism and faith.
